Herald Diamond Couture turns One.
So Herald is now officially 1 year old and we celebrated in ultimate style.
I designed a new collection "Night Flight" to mark the occasion and we had a fabulous private launch to celebrate the new jewels and the wonderful women who wear them hosted by the beautiful Maude Wines at Bistro Gentil here in Wanaka.
I managed to hold back the tears (there were bets!) when thanking my constant love and biggest fan, my husband Jon and my parents - without these guys Herald could not have happened. It was also pretty fantastic to be able to thank my clients, many of whom were there, for their support in my first year. My clients fuel my mind - they inspire me with their stories and relationships and in turn inspire my collections. We collaborate and design together and create these layers and additional depth to me as an artist that I can in turn give back to them in the form of jewels.
Guests could try on the jewels, I loved watching everyone interact with the pieces. (Also the wonderful Kenny from Cardrona Distillery crafted delicious cocktails for guests to enjoy on the lawns)
So we talked about stories. I talked about the pieces of fine jewellery that I wear and why. I shared my personal life stories - the inspiration for those pieces.
My Ready-to-Wear and Diamond Couture Collections are where I tell of my personal inspirations and stories. Bespoke jewellery is where I collaborate with my clients and we design pieces that tell of the relationships and stories they wish to celebrate.
Having founded my own jewellery label and celebrated my first year, I am aware I have grown in depth both as a jewellery designer and as a business woman in that time. I'm at that time in my life where I'm enjoying making it happen. I love working at the head of a team (there's no "i" in team and I have some fantastic people working alongside me) and sharing a passion to deliver exceptional jewels. When designing Night Flight I was maybe unaware of quite how much I really have developed these new layers. Looking at the finished designs and pieces, it's clear quite how much this collection reflects that new boldness and identity. Night Flight is capturing that chapter in my life, one that tells of new inner confidence and strength. It is taking me to a new level as a designer.
In short, life's pretty cool. I'm proud of what's been achieved over the past year, excited about where Herald is heading and what's installed for chapter 2!
