Alice the artist

I see jewels when walking through forests. Nature’s colour, it’s architecture and quiet energy have such influence on my design and in the story-telling of the fine jewellery I create. I see a jewel as a miniature sculpture; if its line, form and colour flow uninterrupted, it truly sings.

When you have the luxury of time to lose yourself in the creative flow that is design, you discover the most exciting aspect of being a creative, uniqueness. I then seek to elevate that individuality and push, stretch and play out the design process through a myriad of pencil strokes and inspirations, seeing what form and delights result. And once that beautiful, considered jewel is created and worn, the strength and energy of the design and form pass to its wearer and is rendered complete.

“I am an artist who happens to express her creativity through the elegant, iridescent artform that is jewellery.”

Always the creative, Alice first discovered jewellery when studying sculpture in Mexico. The ancient Mexican architecture still influences her work today.

Cementing this new found love on her return to the UK with a BA hons degree in Jewellery Design from Central St Martins, London, Alice went on to gain industry knowledge and experience through working alongside goldsmiths to the Royal family, jewellers, glass makers and fashion designers, showing her work around the UK and London Fashion Week.

Alice’s love for the outdoors and skiing saw her making Wanaka, New Zealand home in 2005 where she now lives with her husband and their young family.

Alice co-founded an international online engagement ring company where she was Product Manager and Head Designer for over 8 years before she founded her own label Herald in 2016.

Alice’s great love for diamonds and history working in the engagement industry has enabled her to choose equally passionate suppliers and enjoy long-standing relationships with a range of respected diamantaires allowing her to select the perfect gem for each client.

Her respect for traditional craftmanship and desire for each design to embody a unique beauty that is true to that of her clients’, sees her relishing her relationship with her team of brilliant craftsmen.
